During our grand tour (by road) last year we visited this UNESCO site, quite interesting but, once you have seen one ruin you have seen them all and I have done Ayutthya, Bangkok, Kaephphang Phet, Chang Mai, Chang Rai, Phimai, Nan, ad infinitum, but I know I have pics of more

Some might argue this is not a temple in the purest sense of the word but it is called Wat Rong Khun.

imageproxy.php?img=&key=3bccf9db2954ff32Visiting the temple shown here last year, outside Chang Mai I think, they had a problem with a wildfire creeping up the mountain (why are temples always at the top of very steep hills ?) Anyhoo the local Fire Brigade turned up and then the helicopter with the water holder beneath, I did have video, but seem to have lost it and not sure if video is allowed on here anyway

Wat Rong Khun, Chang Rai, another temple from our road trip of last year, just out of interest for you guys, in one month we covered close to 5000 km, anyway, I know that this one has been covered many times but what you don't usually see is what I consider to be the poshest toilets in Thailand  It's the Gold one btw

These photo's are a selection of all the temples in and around Nan, a lovely part of the world - I believe that the late king spent some time here as a Novice Monk as there is a Royal residence about 20 kms out of the city.

I can assure that I am not a temple freak but on our trip the days activities were dictated by the Mrs who had done an awful lot of Google work the night before and she is a devout Buddhist to boot.  But come 1600 hrs or thereabouts it was always beer time for GT :giggle:

Errrr, I hope this isn't too many in one go, if it is could someone please advise me, thanks.

Hi ladies and gents, today's offering starts in Phitsanulok, I think from there we hit Khon Kaen and then the coast of Chantaburi, I'll try and break it up into bite size chunks and there are also so many different catogories to split into as well, but as usual they are the raw images, no photoshop or any enhancements.

I have also realised that I need to take more than one picture of wherever we go, I have some great pics but they contain identifiable pics of me or the Mrs so I don't want to post on here, shame really but hey you live and learn

Phra Mahathat, Khon Kaen - This was a very busy place I have to say, but very beautiful as well, I couldn't climb all 9 levels but her in doors did, I was quite content checking out the wall paintings, sorry about the light in some of the pics, I don't have a thingy on my lens but I think they are still beautiful murals.

I don't have a problem with this but believe it may affect people with slow internet,

we usually recommend 3 images per post to help them out.

We have now gotten as far as Chanthaburi, my Mrs home town, I had the Mrs, her mum and her niece all wanted to go to a temple or two  I will keep each post down to max 4 pictures as advised by Ron so you guys with slow tinternet can enjoy :jap:

Photo #4 is the Army Barracks next door to the temple, they were kind enough to allow me through the gates to take a fairly long shot at the statue at the end of the parade ground, not sure who it is so don't want to guess in case I'm wrong.

Or, for that matter, anywhere in the surrounding neighborhood.

Found a temple I have not seen before on the hw1178 going towards Doi Ang Khan.

A little bit Burmese style.

Name of the temple is Wat Phra That Doi Mon Ching.

Great views from there.
