There is an airfield with an 800 metre runway about 4kms east of Pranburi crossroads. Disused but with support facilities. It is about 2 kms south of Regional Water Office No 14.

Anyone know the history?

Although its the Infantry that are based in Pranburi aea, I remember someone telling me it was used for jump training, whether this was the original reason for being built I dnt know.

I accept that it may have been used for para jump training but doubt that it was built for that purpose. The infantry at Camp Tanarat (Pranburi) have their own on-base airfield much like this one. The Royal Thai Police jump training is from Hua Hin airport with the drop zone being a few kms north on the Cha-Am military land.

This appears to have been built as a provincial airport but ended up a 'white elephant'. But, state money or private?

Hi if your referring to the one just outside Pak Nam Pran it was part of a grand development a Airstrip clubhouse hangers all still there but damaged durin a flood some 7yrs ago it also boasted a marina and a large housing estate last time i was there it was still deserted very dooms day like complete with derelict cars and a plane.

A farmer has erected a fence across the runway but it is still there even the aviaries and bar

Worth a visit turn into the gate way about 200mtrs before the final pak nam pran turn
