June 30, 201213 yr There is an airfield with an 800 metre runway about 4kms east of Pranburi crossroads. Disused but with support facilities. It is about 2 kms south of Regional Water Office No 14. Anyone know the history?
July 1, 201213 yr Although its the Infantry that are based in Pranburi aea, I remember someone telling me it was used for jump training, whether this was the original reason for being built I dnt know.
July 2, 201213 yr Author I accept that it may have been used for para jump training but doubt that it was built for that purpose. The infantry at Camp Tanarat (Pranburi) have their own on-base airfield much like this one. The Royal Thai Police jump training is from Hua Hin airport with the drop zone being a few kms north on the Cha-Am military land. This appears to have been built as a provincial airport but ended up a 'white elephant'. But, state money or private?
