Met April 2000

Applied for vv early September 2000, refused "In sufficient Reason to return."

Married late September 2000 and applied for spouse visa.

Interview November 2000, success!

That's for the UK, what country will you be applying to?

Yes, I would think 6 months (and a lot of 'proof' like family-photos, tickets, emails, letters etc. is necessary!) is a minimum...Depends from which country you are but for Europe (EU countries) it will be extremely difficult if you know her for less than 6 months; don't know about other countries though. Also, if she (don't want to offend you!) has a past as BG....than you have a problem; the Embassies have a 'nose' for that. :o

All this because of the laws against 'fake' relations/marriages.

As for myself, we applied for tourist visa (but that was China versus my EU-country; but also EXTREMELY difficult and not possible anymore) after 1 month....and rewarded in 2 1/2 months. The PAPERWORK though :D:D is a real pain in the _ss!

I had to file a total of 80 pages.... :D

success

I was with my GF for about 10 months before applying for a holiday visa all I showed was a letter from her mother as she was under 21 and a letter from our land lord and a few pictures. And a my bank statement.

I also had to write a statement on how and where we meet

Good luck

I have 2 friends in Australia that applied after only 3 months for girls that they were fully supporting and they both got visas, but that was 2 years ago

It sounds like they are a lot tougher now, hopefully 6 months would be sufficient time to prove that you have a genuine relationship

Visit visa for UK.

We had known each other 10 months at the time of the application, it was refused and the length of time we known each other was raised and part of the refusal,

Quote "you have only known each other a relativley short period of time"

For Australia:

Met September 2004, applied for tourist visa in January 05, got rejected on the "insufficient reason to return" criteria (she's a student). Married end of April, re-applied for tourist visa in June and got it in 3 days. In Australia for about 10 weeks. Applied for Spouse visa start of November, had interview in mid-December, waiting for result! ###### painful wait too! (she's in bkk, I'm in melb).

Miss her like crazy, these visa debacles just plain suck ass, imho... :o
