Can anyone offer any insight into the proper storage of medicine? Specifically, I'm concerned with pills that come loose in a bottle. Given the higher relative humidity of Thailand compared to the west coast USA, in my case, is it a good idea to store excess medication in the refrigerator?

Kind thanks in advance

Yes but keep it down in the veg bin area so not too cold. That's where I store all mine.

or if your fridge doesn't have a veg bin then in the least cold part of it.

Not sure veg bins would be a good location if trying to limit humidity as they are designed for high humidity storage compared to the dry storage of most refrigerators today. But find most medications sold in Thailand these days are well sealed in foil rather than being dispensed from the old brown bottle.

Suggestion - Keep your goodies in a Zip Lock bag in the fridge which should take care of excessive moisture contamination.

Hey buck...I often add some uncooked rice to the salt shaker to cut moisture...think that would be a good addition to the zip lock bag?

thx for the suggestion

I use uncooked rice as a dehumidifier sometimes. Works well, just put rice inside a small plastic bag and poke small holes, replace regularly. My main application is the cigar box, gets a bit too humid occationally.

Some medication like insulin should(must) be kept in the fridge.

Most blister packs of medication don't. If in doubt ask a Pharmacist (not a shop girl/.boy!) or Google XXX(medication)+ storage conditions. Most tablet/capsule medication is recommended to be stored below 40C (104F for you Yanks !), out of sunlight and protected from moisture but there are variations,
