2012 Olympic Comments.

It's the turn of the Brits for their time in the sun. Even allowing for the home ground advantage, they have excelled! Congratulations!

However, I wonder why so many have to belittle their country's achievements, and themselves, by attacking Australia? Australia has had a wonderfull history in sport, but are in the doldrums at the moment. Disappointing, but why the kicking?

Even the Mayor of London, that strange, rumpled man, declared before the games started that all they wanted to do was beat Australia. What should be a wonderfull thread about Olympic champions has turned into another Aussie bashing opportunity from a small minded minority.

We expect the silliness from NZ who, led by that rag, The NZ Herald, have had a small man's attitude towards Australia for decades. They will beat up any little thing into a national news story. Instead of going on ad infinitum about pavlova, develop a national identity of your own and rejoice in it!

NZ's rowers/skullers were brilliant with a much lower budget than their neighbors, and the shot putter Adams is the best in the world.

I watched the woman's shot putt, it was obvious to me, and I made comment at the time, that the Belarous woman was on drugs! At her age and fitness levels it was impossible for her to improve so much and throw so consistently!

Justice was done.

Its all tongue in cheek Old Croc....and you being such bad losers only makes ir all the more amusing.

We know you will bounce back...enjoy that feeling of being the underdog for a change!

I think it's great that Great Britain won so many medals. It would have been horrible to host the event then finish in 36th place on the medal table like they did in the 1996 Summer Olympics http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1996_Summer_Olympics_medal_table

Australia will bounce back from an under achieving year just like GB did.

Besides, we won't know the final medal tally for another 8 years (that's how long they hold the blood samples) until after all the doping cheats have been stripped of their medals.

The leader of the Somali Olympic Committee has publicly apologised.

He says they genuinily didn't know that shooting and sailing were two different sports......

:cheesy:

I thought the Olympics was about coutries competing against other countries. When did Great Britain become a country???

It wasn't Great Britain, anyway. It was the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Island, which I assume is the body that has representation on the Olympic bodies.

But the time servers in Loco-G who spent billions of dollars on this project thought that 'Team GB' sounded better than 'Team UK' for some inexplicable reason.

It would have been better if Scotland had sent a separate team and a united Irish team, as in rugby internationals, had participated. As Wales is solely a Principality, not a country, then we would have had to put up with them in the England team, or ban them from the Olympics.

I am East Anglian, then English, then British. It stops there, as I have nothing in common with all those furriners across the English Channel and North Sea (or even the monkey hangers north of the Tees)
