Vietnamese airline fined for mid-flight bikini show

Hanoi - A private airline in Vietnam was fined for having women dance through the cabin in bikinis during a flight, an official said Thursday.

About 10 women in bikini tops and sarongs sashayed down the aisle of a Viet Jet Air flight Sunday from Ho Chi Minh City to the coastal city of Da Nang.

The budget airline was fined 1,000 dollars for hosting the show without official permission, said chief inspector of the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam, Nguyen Trong Thang.

"They should have registered (with us) before they held the show,"Thang said. "This is the first time an airline has organised a bikini dance aboard a flight in Vietnam." The authorities took action after videos of the in-flight show were circulated on the internet.

The show was held to celebrate the company’s first flight to Da Nang, said an official from the airline who declined to be named.

"It was the first flight to a beach town, so we came up with the idea of getting a number of girls in bikinis to dance and make passengers happy to improve our customer service," he said.

<deleted>! How is registration the issue here?

When will 'modern day medieval men' learn that women are more than just things to perve on?

The problem here lies with the demand not the supply.

After watching the video (thanks for that isaanbrit) I guess Mr Nguyen Trong Than was upset because he was not given a ticket for the flight.

I wouldn't try that on a flight with a certain group of people who require only the eyes of their women to be shown in public. I don't see anything wrong with it, you see way more skin if you go to the beach. The customers looked like they were enjoying the show and the airline got their name out there and many return customers I am sure.

on the beach singing "l want banana?" yeah right.... how many times have you seen that? more like "stop perving on me you <snip>"

spare me the lame justification... how many topless men have you seen doing the equivalent? this is shameful

i'd love to hear a female opinion on this.... or are there no females on this forum???

there is a time and a place for this, it's called the red light district of bangkok, not an airline with men, women and children

haha... wow... demand for female bikini dancers singing i want banana to the general public on an airplane somehow maintains the human population?

um.... <deleted>? you've illustrated my point perfectly

Honestly, its inappropriate. Its also enforcing the image of trolley dollys with no substance. It just looks plain silly and if i was on the plane i would have found it ridiculous.

But as an aside, if they had actually at least been doing some kind of dance and both men and women, maybe it could have worked. But having girls just basically prancing about, bobbing up and down, just comes across as an excuse to stick a girl in a bikini top rather than anything well thought out.

Why were there people demanding such a show from the airline?

laugh.png The "demand" is of men wishing to look at beautiful women. It is quite natural for most men, but not true, apparently, for our latest newbie.

That is women in bikinis?

I thought there was an angry mob with banners outside the airlines HQ demanding all this... Dam, thought I missed something.

The airline has gotten world wide advertisment for a pittence. I guess the intent and results may be hard to measure for some misunderstood by others, but thats what makes this old world a fun place to live. Strange no one complained or complimented the teddys being passed out.

Obviously a very insightful gimmic to arouse interest for future customers and to set the mood for those on this particular flight. As already stated, I didn't see any passengers up in arms.

Glad we didn't!

But the thing is, women appreciate fine looking men. Women have spending power, and, often, women are the ones to influence their other halves. So why companies dont factor this in their thinking, i dunno. Stick a few attractive men in there, and you have women enjoying the view also. Hubby happy, wife happy, win win! All this does is create disgruntled wifeys, who are probably the ones who complained!

They have cute guys now, according to JT? ;) Anyways I would fly an airline like that...even redundantly for no particular reason.

Well I watched the video without 'perving' (definition To Perve - To Stare with Sexual Intent)

As said inappropriate but women in bikinis have been part of the advertising world for decades ( and men in underpants) and notice that they covered up for in-flight service.

I find just as bad the use of profanity in a post whether as a 3 letter mnemonic or in a later post where it was removed by mods.( Unless of course if you name is Gordon Ramsay then you probably can't help it.)

It would make the airport security lines move much faster.

It's all fun and games until they sit you in between a 75 year old grandma and a 180 kilo soap-dodger ! (Take a moment to visualize those images and let them sear into your brain for all eternity !)
