Hire/ Buy Arc Welder.

Featured Replies

I've done a search on here and google but no results.

I've never seen one, but do they have a Hire Pool type set up in Lamphun or Chiang Mai?

Alternatively, does anyone know a welder prepared to travel with equipment in Lamphun?

Only other option is to buy. Any decent second hand shops selling such in Lamphun or Chiang Mai?

Thanks if anyone can help.

You can get from 2nd hand shops along the moat road, Chng Puak. Many there, but words of caution, they are not much cheaper than new, and for me i would never buy anything electrical 2nd hand.

In particular a high powered welding box....and you dont just need the tools, you need a good quality face visor and fireproof gloves.

You can buy new from Global or Home pro, and adjacent the President hotel and the likes for circa 10-12k baht.

Whats the job?

All local steel fabricators will travel and work on-site... there's at least 5 near us on HangDong Rd near BigC/HomePro.

As mentioned above, you can buy inexpensive welders on moat road northside, just east of Chang Puak, travelling eastward.

I am near the airport (Mae Hia area) I am happy to loan you mine for a while if you know how to use it. Have most of the gear too.

last time i bought an arc welder it was around 3000-3500 baht, look at the amperage when buying.

Dont look inside though, it may freak you out...My orange 'makita' was basicly a large transformer mounted on a piece of plywood.

If you are going to buy new it may be worthwhile looking at one of the cheaper TIG welders .

Thanks everyone. I think it will probably be cheaper to hire someone than buy new, as it sounds like 2nd hand isn't a good idea.

I only need a reinforcing rod in a retaining wall reinforced, as I inadvertantly half cut it when making a drain hole, though there are a few other small jobs around the place that could be welded.

Thanks very much for the generous offer, but as I already wrote, I'll look for a local welder.

I really like your signature, excellent ambition!
