NEW HERB FOUND TO BE A POTENTIAL CANCER CURE

The Public Health Ministry found a new herb that can potentially cure liver cancer, and prepare to move to conserve and research the herb.

Deputy director-general of the Department of the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, Pennapa Sab-charoen (เพ็ญนภา ทรัพย์เจริญ) revealed that a new herb, called “Mok Bo Wai (หมอกบ่วาย), has been found in Thailand. She said researches have shown that this herb contains Flavonoids, which is believed to fight against cancer. She said that Thai researchers have not studied the substance yet, and Public Health Minister Pinij Jarusombat (พินิจ จารุสมบัติ) has ordered a quick study into the herb, as it may be used to treat liver cancer in the future.

However, she said that the survey has shown that the herb is now available only in Ponpisai (โพนพิสัย) district in Nong Khai (หนองคาย) province. She said that the department will prepare measures to prevent the herb from becoming extinct. She added that if the research shows that the herb must be used in a large amount, the herb may be mixed with other drugs.

She said that the herb is still not widely known. She warns that people should consult doctors before using the herb, as they may develop allergies against the herb.
