giddyup Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 My Thai lady is having a problem with one of her wisdom teeth and it's probably going to have to come out. A friend took his lady to a local dentist recently for exactly the same thing and said it cost him 7000 baht plus another 2000 baht follow-up treatment. This seems awfully high to me, anyone know if that's the going price?
Tywais Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 One of the most expensive dental clinics in Chiang Mai show 2000-5000 Baht depending on complexity of extraction. Just looked at a few other clinics and the range was 2-4K and 2-5K. Perhaps your location will help pin down the going prices in your area.
maprao Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 In the "bonies" in a clean dental surgery 300 Baht! Not sure about a wisdom tooth but normal tooth extraction cost as above.

I'm in the Pattaya area and it was a local Smile Dentist that charged that amount. I have a feeling though he may have been talking about a total price including whitening, which I only just remembered.
lopburi3 Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I suspect many, if not most, boonies locations are a bit less than 'clean'. Even in Bangkok many of the Soi offices are much less than clean in my experience.
rucus7 Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I had a premolar that was broken at the gum line removed about 6 weeks ago. 3,000 Baht included having stitches removed and one more follow up to check on how it was healing. The work was done at Bangkok International Dental Clinic(BIDC)The cost was determined by degree of difficulty. I travel to Bangkok for my dental work, it is worth the hassle to me. I had an impacted wisdom tooth removed (chiseled out) many years ago in the U.S. It was some of the worst pain I have yet to experience. The premolar was a walk in the park by comparison. I hope your friend fares better.
KarstenBoAndersen Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 From 500 Baht for a normal straight tooth, to a lot of money if a operation ! But let her go alone ! If you think they charge more because you come too ! I had NEVER seen such practice here in Khon Khaen, i use the Dental Professor from the Khon Khaen University, he have a private clinic, and his prices is on level with others (he can just some more fancy things as operations etc) ! I when with my daugthrt for braces, it cost 1000 Baht a month for 36 Months, our niece whent a few months later same price, when we been there we can see all pay 1000 each month etc. But i heart many who have wifes who can push up the price under way home (as well as they can push the rice price down under way home) !! 1
bunnaag Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Had Yai 400 Bath for a wisdom tooth if no complications
taninthai Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 had 3 teeth out in the last two years here cost 1500 bht each time one off these was a wisdom tooth where he had to cut and stitch my gum this is in krabi south thailand
giddyup Posted August 19, 2012 Author Posted August 19, 2012 Thanks for all the responses, I think I have a pretty good idea now as to how much it should cost.
Boycie Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 It's all about negotiation. Here's a video with some tips
Pormax Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Go out of the tourist/ big towns. My father-in-law (Thai) had 2 teeth removed in a very clean dental professional practise in Prachonchai, Buriram. Together with antibiotics and pain killers the cost was 900B.
Sheryl Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 It depends on whether it is extraction of a matured wisdom tooth or of an impacted one, the latter is a more complicated and thus costly procedure.
orchis Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Chulalongkorn University Faculty of Dentistry (not same as Chulalongkorn Hospital) Extraction of wisdom tooth (unimpacted) two years ago 500 THB. Very well done.
maxme Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Its totally a rip-off!!! 7000 is very outrageous and follow up is usually free.
Pacificperson Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Here is a quote that I was given by a Bangkok Dental Hospital: simple wisdom tooth extraction 1,000-1,500 Baht, surgical wisdom tooth removal 4,500-5,500 Baht per tooth. The comparable US cost is $200 to 695.
