Hi,

The embassy web site says that a cashier's cheque is required for settlement visa applications. To get a cashier's cheque do i just go into my SCB branch and fill out a form ? Is there anything i should know ?

Cheers.

Unfortunately not, mate. The dfart/cheque has to be drawn on a Thai bank.

Scouse.

Okay thanks scouse, I will get it done from G/f's bank.

Just to add.. you do not need to have an account with the bank. You can go into any bank in Thailand and give them the cash plus an admin fee and they will raise a cheque for you.

Just go to any bank and ask them to raise a cashiers cheque for the same - i used kasikorn, small fee - 10 minutes no issue.

If you are applying at the British embassy there is a yellow bank (forget name) across the nearest footbridge. They have the slips prepared for farang with all the amounts filled out. You just have to pay and wait until your number is called.
