Guess again, as I'm paying tax when I don't "need" to. I could fly under the radar and take my chances, or use credit cards for all expenses trying to obfuscate remittances. Paying tax on remitted money is already a generous deal, I don't need to find creative ways to lower that further. -

Air conditioning is effecting my sleep
I don't start with the more exotic ideas-- although they may be relevant. I have found that the following variables contribute to a lower quality sleeping enviroment: Degree of humidity- Air conditioning necessarily dries out the environment. We're circulating outdoors in a relatively high humidity in Thailand. (And even the UK.) I got myself a humidifer and run it all night at a low level. I do find that this helps. Drafts- I find that whatever the air source-- fan or A/C-- if there is a sustained draft hitting (or surrounding) my face all night long, this can lead to all kinds of unpleasant side effects. Temperature- I agree with the person who recommended keeping the A/C temperature as high as possible. Only sufficient to let it cycle occasionally. You don't want to sleep as if you're living in a meat locker. -

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
German pensions: Most people get a pension from their compulsory old age insurance, which is a part of the compulsory social insurance system for most employees. These pensions are not taxed in Germany if you live in Thailand. And Thailand, until now, hasn't taxed them either. Many former employees also get an additional private pension from their former employer. These are mostly taxed in Germany (as @JimGantjust explained). Former civil servants get a pension from the (federal or state) government, taxed in Germany. Former professionals like lawyers and doctors get a pension from their professional associations (bodies governed by public law, where they paid compulsory old-age insurance). I don't know how these are taxed. -
