bannork
Tippaporn, I prefer the Byrds' version to Sandy's of The Ballad of Easy Rider because it's got that sense of open space which you just can't get in the UK due to its small size. Hell, what a landscape you have in the States! Here's another song about coal miners- something the UK and US have/had in common.

I love pedal steel guitar. Here are a few excellent songs featuring pedal steel. Of course most of it will be country-ish. Merle Haggard from 1966. Another Byrds favorite. A great song by Tammy Wynette from 1969. This one is interesting. George Jones, big name country singer, from 1979 featuring guest artist . . . Elvis Costello!! What?!?!? Linda Ronstadt from 1972. Nice pedal steel on this one. Bit of fiddle, too. Rolling Stones were no sluggards when it comes to the pedal steel. Ronnie Wood from 1978. Mick needs to work on his southern drawl a bit, 55555555. Waylon from 1975. Beautiful Eagles classic from 1972. And we'll come full circle with a 1970's Grateful Dead number. Tippaporn
Well, now, just one more worthy song that I just ran across. Stones doing a Waylon cover of his tribute to Bob Wills. This one falls outside this threads parameters but it's interesting to compare the band members on this vid to the vid posted above. Thankfully I haven't aged as they have.
Tippaporn
A beautiful number from Dickey Betts (of Allman Bros. fame). Recorded in 1974.
Tippaporn
I know I posted this one before but since I'm onto pedal steel this song is one of my tops.
Tippaporn
This is simply a repeat of one of the above posts but it has video of the show. As I said, I having a little trouble picturing George Jones on stage with Elvis Costello. They seem to me to be strange bedfellows but what do I know?
