CHIANG MAI NIGHT SAFARI GETS NEW BABY GIRAFFE ON CHINESE NEW YEAR

Chiang Mai Night Safari has received a baby giraffe as a newcomer over the Chinese New Year.

A female baby giraffe of a rare strain was born yesterday (Jan. 29th) after as many as 468 days of pregnancy by Namphueng (น้ำผึ้ง), the mother giraffe. The newcomer has been given a Chinese name that meant Chinese New Year, as she was born on the date and is considered a much-appreciated Chinese New Year's present for the night safari.

Over this period, zoo officials will help the mother care for the baby giraffe until the milk-feeding period is over. They will also be aiding her to walk, in order to prepare the newcomer to greet visitors.

I caught a really pretty snake in the garden today. It's brown and yellow, has a forked tongue and scales, and I have it in the maid's washing bucket. I wonder if they would like that for their safari? :o:D
