loofa Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Hi everyone, okay, our little family has just moved to Chiang Rai. We are so new that we are still living in a guesthouse and trying to figure out the lay of the land. We are also trying to find a home and I thought that I would see if anyone here has any leads. We are two adults and an 11 year old son. We hope to find something quiet, with a yard. My husband has employment here, so we intend to stay - also, we are rapidly falling in love with this area . Of course, the cheaper the better, but I'd say the upper end of our budget is around 9,000 baht a month. Possibly a little more if the house has space that I could teach small classes in as then my business would cover some cost. We have already spent time on the lanna reality website, but we are finding it's better to just talk to as many people as possible as everyone we have met has been incredibly friendly and often they have house leads. Hoping that by posting here we cast a wider help net. Thanks so very much for any kind input. we are excited to be here, and looking forward to finding friends and community!
villagefarang Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 I would suggest sending a private message to Nikki321 as she has just recently gone through the search process and moved into a new home. The best source is often someone who has just done something themselves.
loofa Posted October 17, 2012 Author Posted October 17, 2012 Makes sense. Thank you, I will give that a go.
woralak Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Hi Loofa I have just sold my house in Chiang Khong, i'd lived there for 7 years and decided we had enough of that enviroment, i then began my search for a new abode, i'll tell you now it ain't easy, after looking at at least, 20 properties we are now living in an apartment (1 room), and may i ad very happy to do so. In our experience we encountered many false promises and dowright lying of the backteeth to last us a lifetime (be careful) as it's never all it seems, having said that i wish you luck with your quest (many people are) lucky and find what they are looking for, if you want a more personal view of our experiences feel free to pm me, i'm not prepared to name names (places to aviod etc), in public. Good luck Wora. 1
