I have noticed that most Farangs seem just a tad bit stand offish as if to say hello they would have to loan me money.

This is because they have been in Thailand for a while. And it's not uncommon when a stranger approaches you, that eventually he/she will ask for a handout.

Too bad you don't live in Surin I'd love to play you in tennis. As for the gym I go solo and just do cardio and some rehab excercises. It is tough finding friends here, mostly know guys who like drinking and chain smokers not a lot of fitness nuts. And the ones not in the bars are at home doing their own thing and you don't see them out and about.

Seems he can drop his old monitor at your house. You go solo in the gym? Don't have to. Drive to Khon Khaen, play him in tennis. I'm actually not really sure if the guy wasn't looking for male companionship.

If so, there's a wonderful forum. And you're right, all these drinking and chain smoking foreigners are not fitness nuts. Those who prefer to sit at home seem to know why.

number 1 bar is probably the best place to find someone who could point you in the right direction.

I 2nd this, good friendly place and dave and noi are great hosts, but i am biased as my drinking hole when i venture into khonkaen.

I think the reason not many replies might be Khon Kaen. I agree Number One a good place to start. If anybody thinks they come to KK and will find a strong expat scene like in many other Thai cities/towns forget it. I spent 6 weeks there in May/June and found it hard work. I went in Rockys bar near Pullman a few nights and also for weekend breakfast. If Peter is still there he is a good host. No girls in this bar when I was going. Quite a few farang in just for a relaxing drink and a chat often with their Thai partners but sometimes alone.
