As I understand the Bank can send a letter of credit, but for this I guess I need a company in Thailand...what sort of company?..I really would like to hear from somebody who does it. Many thanks.

You should wire the funds into Thailand after you get the invoice so you can pay in Australian Dollars. You don't need to have a company to import from Australia a good freight forwarder can help you with this.
