Norwegian man dies in Pattaya hotel

Published on Feb 08 , 2006

Chon Buri - A 59-year-old Norwegian man died Tuesday night in a hotel in South Pattaya area, police said.

Pol Maj Chatchai Srisuwan of Tambon Pattaya police station said the man was identified as Konrad Haugen.

Chatchai said the Norwegian man was staying at the Day-Night 2 Hotel in Chon Buri's Bang Lamung district with his Thai wife, Nonglak, 49.

She said she lived with her husband for two years and had been renting the room at the hotel during the past two years.

She said her husband drank several glasses of vodka before going to bed. She said she noticed that he stopped snoring at 9 pm so she tried to wake him but found him already dead.

Hotel motto - you check in, but you never check out. :o

Yeah. I live across the street from this place and it seems to be a death magnet. Not sure why, as everyone in the neighbourhood seem to be good people. I guess it's one way of getting out of paying your bill !

I seem to recall reading about a lot of youth problems (shooting, mugging, violence) in the block around Day-Night.

Doesn't the song go "you can check out anytime you like but you can never leave" ?

They should change the name to Night Night Hotel !

Or just move the city morgue there, save on having to transport so many bodies.

How about the "Lights Out Hotel" ?

New advertising slogan for the "Survive the Night Hotel", if you're still alive in the morning, you get a complimentary breakfast !
