Decadent dining to delight hearts and palates

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching. And post-holiday, your wallet might not be bulging like it was in December. Taking your lady friend to a romantic dinner is de rigueur unless you’d like to spend the night of the 14th in the doghouse. And girls, don’t forget your hunks of burning love! Spend some time alone with your love feasting on fabulous morsels in deluxe settings. The way to a man’s heart is surely through his stomach, but a lady always appreciates a candlelit dinner à deux! Make sure you have the funds to pay the bill. Going dutch on this night is completely out of the question. Reserve the seven-course menu at Sirocco which features a “cappuccino” of oysters served with marinated scallops and imperial caviar. Foie gras, Big Eye tuna, and Normandy lamb will be followed by a delightful white cheese and berry concoction and chocolate pralines. At Mezzaluna, imported delicacies such as Petrossian salmon, Alaskan king crab, Brittany lobster and foie gras will be served, complemented by main courses of Wagyu beef and pre-Salé lamb.

Moon river

Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa invites you to celebrate Valentine’s Day beside the Chao Phraya River. Enjoy exotic cuisine while savoring the tropical ambiance and love songs from the band. The restaurant also offers beautiful views of the river, the bridges, and barges to complete the seductive tableau. The romantic dinner costs 4,100 baht a couple.

The Rice Mill also offers the “Eternal Love” set menu created by Hong Kong chef Yiu Chi Chow at 1,996 baht a couple.

Love Me Tender (Steak, that is)

Marriott Café is featuring a special love menu including prime Angus beef, roasted lamb with young garlic and rosemary, Norwegian salmon with champagne sauce, and an array of seafood and Valentine’s desserts. The buffet is 1,600 baht a person.

The White Elephant is offering a modern Thai set menu which starts with sweet & sour pepper shrimp on shark’s fin salad followed by pan-fried goose liver with chili and tamarind sauce. Rock lobster with spinach chili herb dressing and grilled lamb in mussamun curry with lychees will be followed by a tempting dessert platter. The set menu is 880 baht a person.

Chan Kwok Leung, Man Ho’s head chef, has created two set menus to celebrate the night of love. The menu includes a braised shark’s fin soup with fresh aloe and dried scallops, sautéed fillet of Kobe beef and Japanese spring onion with black pepper sauce. The second set menu features deep-fried seafood rolls with mango, sautéed jumbo sea scallops with cognac sauce. Each set menu is priced at 1,400 baht a person.

Finally, Nami, a Japanese steakhouse, is serving a set dinner. The menu includes lobster shiitake consommé with spring carrots, Australian scallops and broccoli with creamy miso sauce, Wagyu rib-eye of beef with vegetables and a Valentine’s chocolate dessert with sake ice cream. This romantic dinner is priced at 1,400 baht a person.

Not to be outdone in the romance department,the Nai Lert Park Hotel has three dining options.

ISO Restaurant offers a romantic buffet dinner with a special “personalized” cake station at 1,050 baht a person.

Feel l’amour at Ma Maison French Restaurant with a five-course set dinner menu or a 16-course evolution tasting menu and a complimentary chocolate rose for diners at 2,500 baht a person.

An international BBQ buffet dinner at Wine & Dine in the Park in the poolside garden also comes with a complimentary chocolate rose. Priced at 1500 baht a person.

Stop and smell the roses at Garden Lounge at 5,500 baht a couple with a four-course menu with one bottle of sparkling wine surrounded by the perfume of a beautiful rose garden.

Aphrodite’s delight

The Atrium Restaurant at the Landmark invites you to its Valentine’s dinner buffet which includes a bottle of sparkling wine at only 3,990 baht a couple. A stunning seafood selection featuring imported oysters, prawns, rock lobster, and crayfish will enhance those special qualities that may come in handy later in the evening. Perennial favorite pan-seared foie gras will also be served.

Stuff yourselves to your heart’s delight with dried, aged prime rib and the salted-crust Norwegian salmon. Don’t miss the chocolate station, wonderful cake trays or some home-made ice cream for a happy ending.

Hu’u Bar & Restaurant at the Ascott on 187 South Sathorn Road treats innamorati to a Valentine’s wine dinner for 1,750 baht from now until February 14.

The dishes guaranteed to please include a trio of oysters with a choice of dressings, steamed mussels in a fennel and saffron broth, lobster ravioli in a three cheese cream sauce and a warm fudge brownie with Swiss chocolate cream.
