Aha! I had noticed they were closed the last time I walked by. Brave of them to move close again to Sunrise.

Thanks for the heads up. I've been meaning to get back in there.

IMO, a place like Sam's has to be on a main road where it can be seen by baht bus passengers.

I recalled having seen his cactus a few times, but never came around to actually visit the place until a couple of days ago after the comments on a forum.

A good loction, or at least a visible one could double frequentation.

Is he adds an outdoor bar with cheap beer, the place would also look busy...

There's a cracking seafood restaurant here:-

Not sure of the name but well worth a visit, packed to the rafters with Thai's on the weekend evenings and often on week nights. Plenty of parking opposite in the top car park of the Rompho complex, cheap prices and excellent, and I mean excellent, seafood.

Looks like somebodies front garden when you drive past - blink and you'll miss it. Very basic setting but the food more than makes up for it.

I think we've already been talking about that place:

Assuming its the same place, yes its good, but in my view it's not as good a value as places far down Jomtien Beach road.

Also perhaps worth mentioning is Pattaya Seafood restaurant on Thepprasit. Since I've moved here, they have moved twice going further down towards Sukhumwit. I also read they have a sister restaurant close to Sukhumwit now also on Thepprasit. I used to be a regular there but I was disappointed by my last visit. It didn't seem to be as as good, perhaps a one off. Any comments on that place?

yep, I visited that place, I don't think it's worth mentioning, it's just a standard Thai restaurant.

Not surprised at that reaction but I have had good dishes there over the years such as squid Kaeng Som and one of the best seafood green curries I've had anywhere (I don't order green curry very often in Thailand though). But my last visit, the seafood green curry wasn't special. I agree it isn't exactly a destination restaurant to travel across town for.

Sorry, that is the one that was being talked about earlier, I should have read the thread better...

No sorry needed! Someone else likes it! I was a little shocked by the check bin there on some by weight seafood, a typical hazard for any Thai seafood food.

BTW: Here is some recent press about the new sister restaurant of Pattaya Seafood restaurant:

I've had good food at that joint over the years, and yes the prices are fair, so I will try again even after the recent letdown.

Used to go there regularly not long after they opened, but quite suddenly the food quality dropped like a rock. We got things like vinegar instead of lime/lemon in the Tomyam.

Gave them three chances due to several positive experiences but the last time vowed never to return until they changed management.

I assume you're talking about Pattaya Seafood. That might explain my experience. However, given they have opened a second restaurant, there may be a story behind the story on what's going on there. I won't be hurrying back though ...

maybe the more talented cook is at the second restaurant?

That's one theory. Might be worth trying the new place, eh?
