My name is Kerry but my Thai friend can't pronounce the r's so she calls me Kelly make wat tehn nah. What does it mean? I don't think it is an insult but am not really sure. She has tried to show me in a dictionary but it does not make sense to me.

My best guess would be that she referred to "Thierry Mekwattana" the popular musician from The Carabao Band whose name might sound similar to yours (in her opinion...)

I am amazed. This forum has such a wealth of information. Yes that is it. I asked her. She said she could not pronounce my last name and as close as she could get was “Thierry Mekwattana”. Thanks for the info. No wonder I could not find it in the dictionary.
