villagefarang Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 It is nearly time to harvest the rice in our area. Well, some of it is overdue while some of it looks like this. If this wind keeps up more rice will end up laying down on the job. 2
kevjohn Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Don't know why but I found this interesting and had to take a photo of it. Like you, I don't know why but it does have that catchy look about it.

Like you, I don't know why but it does have that catchy look about it.what is the blue and green on the right? Prism effect? Just the shadows and light, with perhaps some reflection of color from the sky. If you mean the upper right, that is some sort of bag, probably with rice in it but I am not sure. I thought about getting rid of it but decided not to.
Popular Post villagefarang Posted November 8, 2013 Popular Post Posted November 8, 2013 I was completely and utterly defeated by 57 km of torturous trail today, limping home unable to complete a new route. I do hate having to retrace my path. I did come back with some amazing views, however. 5

Popular Post villagefarang Posted November 10, 2013 Popular Post Posted November 10, 2013 Another vista from the trail the other day. 3
villagefarang Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 While I marvel at the industriousness of those who farm these steep slopes, I can’t help but cringe when I think of how they will soon clear these fields. 1
Popular Post villagefarang Posted November 20, 2013 Popular Post Posted November 20, 2013 They continue to bring the mountains down in an effort to build the roads and houses high. 4
Popular Post villagefarang Posted November 20, 2013 Popular Post Posted November 20, 2013 I happened to be passing on my mountain bike and realized I had never ridden around this fishing pond, though I pass it often on the way to town. It was deserted and the sun was low enough that I could not resist taking the shot. It is between Sop Pao and the rock quarry. 5
Popular Post sceadugenga Posted December 7, 2013 Popular Post Posted December 7, 2013 Beehives on the morning walk. 4

villagefarang Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Lots of these around on my ride today. 1
villagefarang Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Lots of these too. Tis the season to be burning. Burn baby burn. 2
Popular Post villagefarang Posted December 14, 2013 Popular Post Posted December 14, 2013 Looks like we are going to have a bumper crop of Atlas Moths this year. I could see a dozen of these guys enjoying our plants today. 4
sceadugenga Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I hope so, they are a bug I don't mind at all. None on our torch ginger yet. 1
Popular Post villagefarang Posted December 14, 2013 Popular Post Posted December 14, 2013 At least they don't eat the flowers. 3
sceadugenga Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I don't think there's much that could eat a torch ginger blossom. They make a brilliant cut flower though, last for ages. 1
Popular Post sceadugenga Posted December 22, 2013 Popular Post Posted December 22, 2013 Headed into the mountains from our village today to check out the new Doi Chaang road. It looked promising for about 7 or 8 kms then.... Some very bad road through to the village so we came back down through Mae Suey. Some nice views of the mountain villages and the dam, although a little hazy. 4
sceadugenga Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 A bit of bad road, but not the worst. 2
scorpio1945 Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 A bit of bad road, but not the worst. Then I do not want to be near the worst.
sceadugenga Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 There's still a huge mud patch at what I call the pine forest but it's started to harden up into deep ruts, a small car could easily scrape bottom. I was in a 4WD Pajero, and to be honest it's off road ability did not impress me, I think my 2WD DMax would have done as well. I would suggest anyone with a ordinary car wanting to see Doi Chaang go up the other side, down the Chiang Mai road (118) and take the WaWi (route 109) turn off. The Doi Chaang turn off does not seem to be signposted but you turn right at the Mae Suai 7km sign The road is ok all the way up with exceptional views. 1
Popular Post sceadugenga Posted January 1, 2014 Popular Post Posted January 1, 2014 New Years morning. Me, the dog and the mountains. The creek the only sound. Beautiful Thailand. 3
