Inquired about membership of Phuket country park, life membership 1.3m annual maintenance fee 25,000bht assuming you play 4 times a week and tip 300 bht this comes to a further 28,800 bht I always said golf was a wealthy persons sport and this proves it! Obviously there are many people with too much money! Yes they are lucky to be able to afford these memberships!

I can afford to play twice a month at a Discounted green fee, that's okay and that's life, no hard feelings I enjoy the two games immensely!

Ok I know I am out in the sticks, but I dare you to take on "Dragon Hills" and come out of it unscathed......great course.

I pay 6,000 Baht per year membership, no green fees or maintenance, just those confounded caddie fees.

Cheers.

Phuket is most definitely the arse end of the universe where golf is concerned!! Did I say I enjoyed my 2 rounds of golf immensely, what I meant to say was, I try to enjoy the games immensely, never happens of course!!

I would not buy a golf club membership here, not only do you have to pay a huge sum just to get membership you then have to pay a yearly maintenance charge and still have to pay the caddie and caddie tip fees, being given the choice as to whether you want or need a caddie would be great, of course it will never happen in Thailand!!

I agree, of course it will never happen that taking a caddie will be optional. So if you want to play regularly, 2-3 times a week, the only way to reduce your cost is with a membership. Decent golf course memberships can be had for around 100,000 for a ten year. You pay the caddie and possibly and annual maintenace fee. You will save a pile. Do the math.

I don't want to play 3 times Week, I don't want a useless caddie who's only thought is to talk on the phone, eat and yawn all the way round, I don't want to pay a membership and receive bad service, I prefer to play now and again and only have to put up with these things now and again!

Then the topic of the thread you started and its apparent meaning are entirely misleading. I appologize for wasting my time in providing what I thought would be links to some useful and pertinent informatiom.

Thanks for your input, I never intended to buy a golf membership, I inquired purely out of curiosity, the fees are way too high, the service provided way too low, I play now and again because I can not stand these useless lazy forced upon you caddies, plus everything is hiked way above what you would normally pay away from the course, not all are bad though, I have had a couple of excellent caddies, yes I still think people who have a lot of money are lucky to be able to afford these high fee memberships, personally I would never part with so much money considering what is offered!!

some good quality golf courses offer life membership, and then all you pay is a yearly maintenance fee.If you don't want to play anymore the life membership can be sold, some of these memberships have appreciated in price over the years.Makes it a very economical way of playing
