Ronaldo drops departure bombshell on Real

MADRID, Feb 20 (Reuters) - Brazil striker Ronaldo hinted on Monday he may leave Real Madrid at the end of the season because of a lack of support from fans at the Bernabeu.

'I've never felt at home at the Bernabeu, the fans have never treated me with affection,' the three times World Player of the Year told a news conference on Monday. 'The fans have never accepted me.

'The reaction of the fans is something to take into account when thinking about my future. I've always said that I don't want to be where I'm not loved.

'I will make a decision at the end of the season. After all the effort I made to come to this club I don't understand why I'm treated like this. I will decide after the World Cup.'

Ronaldo joined Real for £24million from Inter Milan after the 2002 World Cup and is under contract until 2008.

He was whistled by a section of Real supporters after he failed to score during a 3-0 win over Alaves at the weekend.

Ronaldo is now past his best. Morientes was good enough to play up front with him, but he has harldly set Merseyside alight has he?

Are RM in decline? . many of their top players are now way past their sell by date. Zidane, Figo,Rual (how long HAS he been there? as I cannot remember him never being there) Carlos Alberto (how old is he?) Even our own DB has never lived up to what was expected of him at Real.

Well two teams enjoying nothing like the form they showed a few years ago meet now when RM play Arsenal so we will see which one comes off best. Real have not won ANYTHING now for 2 years, they were up until a little while ago the most feared team in Europe, I would now rate them well below Barca, Chelsea and even Liverpool, the constant changing of managers does not help much either.

I think they need a clearout and will have to start rebuilding if they ever want to recapture the glory of the old days.

I cannot beleive they let Ronaldhinio slip throgh their fingers, without a doubt the best player in the World right now and could end up as one of the best players of all time and mentioned in the same breath as Pele. Maradonna and Cryuff.

PS did you know that his real name is Ronaldo, but he changed it because he was so in awe of the (once) Great Man?

First of all, Figo doesn't play for Madrid. Carlos Alberto??? (now he is too old). To answer your question about how long has Raul been there... 10 years, he began his career at Madrid, it's a bit harsh to say he is too old aswell, after all I would hardly say Thierry Henry is too old, would you? they are the same age. As for Zidane, he will never be too old. Zidane is a genious and could still do a job in any team until he is 40 at least if he really wanted to.

I do agree with you that Madrid aren't as good or dominant as they used to be, but I wouldn't go as far to say they were in decline, more of a transitional period, much the same as Barcelona were only some four years ago, where they were little more than a mid-table side. Real Madrid are still a better side than any of our English clubs, Chelsea a side.

Real Madrid 0 Arsenal 1 (a brilliant goal by that old man Henry)

Just something i read on the internet that Spurs made an offer at the begining of this season and in an interview he said he was flattered by the offer but didn't want to move.

News of this this morning has prompted TOTTENHAM, Spam Utd and the Gooners as possible buyers.

Tottenham have an advantage with Mr Davids being a close friend and ex team mate from Inter.

TP,

Ronaldo is diminutive for Ronald, ie it means little Ronald, Ronaldhinio is the diminutive for Ronaldo, ie little Ronaldo, I believe thats where the name came from, having the same name as Ronaldo and being compared with him, he was nicknamed "little Ronaldo" - Ronaldhinio

there is talk is of Ronaldo coming to Pool, but its only speculation, can't see it myself and he's past his best now. BTW I think DB overall has been a success at RM apart from one lean spell, they do need some new talent though, and so do Pool after last night, desperately need a goal scorer

I watched Ronaldo play for Real Madrid against Arsenal. I'm not surprised that the Real Madrid fans aren't supporting him as he looked disnterested and was ineffective. I don't think that he even broke sweat.

The class striker on the pitch was Mr Henry. If Real had any sense, they would ship the Brazillian off and replace him with Henry.

It's has been a news that Milan's Galliani and Sheva would like Ronaldo to join the club. But NO, I don't want him in the club! Unless he's on free transfer with low wage.

We would make him feel loved, appreciated and give him all the affection he wants at Man City :D

Are you reading this Ronaldo? Come to Eastlands :o
