I have WI FI with CAT with antenna, router etc.

For over a month now I have no more Internet between 8 PM and 8 AM, but it still displays "connected, signal strenght excellent" even during "off" hours. How can this be?

I pay for "unlimited access".

How should I approch CAT in this matter (I already had technicians from CAT here, but obviously, they coulden' fix the problem.)

Thanks & cheers.

Don't know how CAT work but Wi-Fi might just be a commercial firm connection signal that is not connected to the internet when business is closed, but they don't bother to power down Wi-Fi? Are there are other connections available? If fully CAT it could be the building is killing power to the modem but not the Wi-Fi transmitter at night and CAT not even aware of it - I would contact and tell them your location and the times when internet is not available but connection is still made; and hope.

Directly related to above comment: I was told that I receive the signal by way of a Wat (Temple) as some sort of a relais-station. Slowly but surely I starting to believe, that when the Monks go to bed around 8 PM, they shut down everything, including relais station, forgetting about me and others. sad.png I really don't know, but I will try to find out. Will be very hard to do. CAT has an English-Hotline, but there is never anyone available that actually speaks english (!).

Cheers.

The WiFi is working, so it is not with your neighbours (imho) Do an ipconfig -all on a windows shell ( type cmd in your search field) and PM the results.

Make sure in the parental control (or similar name) area of the router settings a time of use period is not set....like only allows internet access from 8am to 8pm.

Also, a person can still show an excellent basic connection to the Wifi router, but still not be getting an IP address to reach the internet pass the router/modem. I use to have that problem on my home setup...but that problem was being caused a Wifi "driver" problem on my laptop. I wanted to blame my ISP or the Wifi router but during one of those automatic Windows updates an incompatible Wifi chip driver got installed on my laptop that caused the problem...once I reloaded the correct Wifi driver for my Toshiba laptop Wifi chip the problem was fixed. Laptops can be very picky about some of their drivers...like their video and wifi drivers. But this won't be your problem since you are having a very, very specific time of day connection problem...but it could be a router setup issue in the parental control area

Try doing a TraceRoute to a well know Thailand site during the day. Make a note of the IPs that it goes through.

Do it again after 8 and you'll see how far you are getting before there is no more connection.
