I have a well but have always used the big bottles of delivered water for cooking, tea, coffee, ice etc....BUT.....is this necessary or is the well water likely to be just fine especially if heated up in a hot pot?

The well water looks and smells just fine and I don't really want to do a bunch of tests but just as a general rule is CR well water ok to drink? What about CR tap water?

You can take your water sample in very clean glass jars to the Thai local FDA and get the water quality tested. I did this and concluded that my well water was very clean and drinkable.

Generally water is pretty good though some areas have a lot of iron.

The trouble is that here where we are it is very erratic, some days it's good, some days you wouldn't want to wash the car with it. I run all our water through a filter containing media such as carbon, fine sand etc. and then pass drinking water through a Reverse Osmosis (RO) filter. which I plumbed into the kitchen and the ice-maker fridge etc.

Whole set up, excluding the main pressure pump, about THB 10K and worth every stang.

Is the septic right near the well (point and non-point source), like I have seen in some houses? I hope not. If you do have it tested, and you should if you want to use it for other than washing, showering and flushing, be sure to sterilize the jars/bottles you take the sample in to have tested. Fecal coliform is a bacteria that you really don't want ingesting. Escherichia coli (e-coli) is one of these. We have lots of coliform bacteria in our digestive tracks to aid in digesting food. But any pathogens or disease producing bacteria or viruses which can also exist in fecal material is something to really be aware of. pe
