Mischka Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Thung Fon is a rural amphoe with 12.500 inhabitants, Thung Yai has 9.000. Entrance of Amphoe Thung Fon: http://www.panoramio.com/photo/38667514?source=wapi&referrer=kh.google.com Post Office: http://www.panoramio.com/photo/38667514?source=wapi&referrer=kh.google.com Main Street: http://www.panoramio.com/photo/30214948?source=wapi&referrer=kh.google.com Such a place can be nice, depends on your own and the thai family. The distance (54 km) to a big city like Udon is not far, but on rural roads it takes 1 hour. I live not at this place. This answer is only a little helper for the start. 1
Martyjustice Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 There is also a Thung Yai just south of Kanthaluk by about 2 km. Its a little town but there is a Army post nearby. 1
KhunBENQ Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 (edited) It is 64km on the road from the Amphoe town to the center of Udon Thani (major part is on route 22 which looks like a four lane road). Not great but could be worse. Udon has basically everything a "farang" needs. Airport is the one with the most connections in upcountry Isan. Why are you asking? If you want to live there, a lot of questions arise / have to be checked (aside from the personal/relation/famil\y things). How good/bad is rural road 2066? What are the local shopping options? (where is the next "supermarket", 7/11). How reliable is the power and water supply? Fixed internet available? What are you neighbours like (noise, pollution and so on)? and and and ...
