A young couple who receive more than £17,000 a year in benefits appeared on ITV's This Morning to defend their taxpayer-funded lifestyle.

Danny Creamer, 21, and Gina Allen, 18, who live in a comfortable two-bedroom flat in Portsmouth with their four month old daughter, Talulah Rose, say they are better off on £17k benefits and argue that unless they are able to find jobs that pay £18,000 a year or more, there's no point in working.

The couple also hit back at those who describe them as scroungers, arguing that because their hard-working parents have paid tax all their lives, they are entitled to claim some of the money back.

Danny doesn't look like the brightest bulb in the chandelier. Maybe the dole is the only work he can get.

As clear a case for having to work for benefits as you will see.

And if everyone thought that way there'd be no benefits for anyone in a few years time - no old age pensions for the worker parents, no unemployment benefits for the scroungers and no child benefits for the kids.

You should have to show five years work record for minimum benefits, ten years for more, and these to stop if you haven't found work within a year. Sterilise unwed mothers after two kids, snip the fathers (if you can find them).

How many people has the modern hi-tech age made unemployable? He certainly looks it!

We shouldn't judge by looks, I know, but I suspect if you gave Danny a job he'd just be in the way.

Maybe better to pay some people to stay at home.
