Hi, where would you recommend renting a home in Chiang Mai (and any tips on renting a home would be appreciated).

With sufficient budget, anywhere you like.

try and find one with no dogs within 250metres. the locals have absolutely no idea how to train them. There appears to be no limit on how many per household, and if you think there's a dog inspector..ha! Then there's the soi dogs....

Up to you what do you want. For me location is the number one priority. Do you have a vehicle or other means of transportation. If you do it will open up some nice areas for houses mainly.

Avoid near anywhere with horn speakers on poles. Avoid near schools. Check out the area early morning, late afternoon & night time for excessive noise. And return again at any other time in between for more excessive noise

Short answer:- Anywhere BM 'brinjalin' (sp?) may have resided at some stage is probably very good!

Otherwise, more criteria needed .... ?
