Can't Login To Existing Gmail Account

I've had this account for many years. Suddenly this morning I cannot login, no matter what I try.

Every attempt takes me to a page where I am invited to sign up for a gmail e-mail account. I don't want to sign up, I want to sign in to my existing account.

Any suggestions appreciated, thanks.

I had the same till I found out that my keyboard was broken - one key didn't work so my password was always wrong...
