Metropolitan Cable Clutter

Featured Replies

Just heard on the news this morning that the Electricity Authority will be moving their cables underground on select streets, such as Sukhumvit. As you know, the cables have been an eyesore for a long time, compared to other countries, which have had their cables underground for a long time.

I'm not sure about what will happen to the telephone cables...

It will be also interesting to see how this will affect the transformers (huge units) mounted on the concrete pillows along the roads.

That's definitely a great thing and will make Bangkok a lot more sightly :o But is it just their cables up there? What will happen to the telephone ones?

It'd would be a shame to see them go in a way as the've often been a signature of Sukumwit etc for so long that some will be sorry to see them go..

Actually, since the power cables are fairly static (unchanging) and relatively few in number, they're not that bad. It's the telephone cables that are the worst eyesore... they're hundreds of them, and they're not installed in any logical manner, or routed in any sensible way.

So, I hope that the telephone cables will also be taken care of. It may be too much to ask.
