It would be amusing if their mismanagement of economic and foreign policy was not going to lead to disaster and potential collapse, but that it will.

P.S Hagel is now in position and the Obama administration looks like the Carter one on steroids. I will probably leave this thread alone until news makes it difficult to deny whats happening. Personally I have always rather enjoyed Truman's explanation of why he sacked General MacArthur:

We have a CIA head, who won't say the word Jihad, we have rubber stamping of F16 sales to Egypt, who are busy installing a totalitarian regime, referred to as a process of Democratization by the current U.S administration. We have their silence and complicity in respect to an OIC sponsored resolution to curtail free speech in the west. I could go on, but what is the point as you invariably go into source policing/ ad hominim attack mode and do anything to avoid such questions being addressed. But, much to your discomfort I would imagine, people are waking up.

Far from it, actually it's his interpretation (and a widely accepted one) of the word and the reluctance to grace terrorists with a label of Holy Warrior, that seems to have been the cause of such wailing and gnashing of teeth by the frothers led by Faux News etc..see his quote about using the term jihadist below:

Interestingly this wasn't a quote from Brennan but George W Bush, 17 Oct 2005. Using the term jihadist to describe a terrorist is based on wilful ignorance, as even George W recognized.

The whole debate over free speech versus hate speech has been played out many times in respect of anti-semitism, Holocaust denial, racist comments, homophobic comments, basic defamation, and now anti-islamic comments. Always a tricky issue. Does Free Speech give people the right to offend or to provoke further offences?

Your position on free speech depends upon which country one lives in... In the U.S. Free Speech can most certainly mean the freedom to offend. As far as provoking further offenses... depends on the definition of offense... inciting specific violence upon a person or institution - inciting others to perpetrate violent offenses can be prosecuted and a court and jury would determine guilt or innocence. Provoking offense in the way of an insult is most certainly allowed... Our constitution does not protect us from having our feelings hurt. The fact that the countries of the EU and the U.K. in particular have gone down the road of enforcing hate speech at every turn and seek to protect everyone from insult - from being offended causes most Americans to shake their heads in dismay. Political Correctness is out and out censorship of free speech. PC is an instrument that fosters tyranny. One can quibble about the definition of ;jihadist but it really doesn't matter in the U.S. we can use the word as we please ... we have Freedom of Speech.

The following photos - little seen in the mainstream American news media (if at all) depict the real attitude behind the protesters that ousted Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood. These photo leave little doubt what the people were thinking and what their motivations were... they despise Morsi and his ideas... and I believe the people will fight right beside the Egyptian Army to repeal any militant counter moves by the Muslim Brotherhood...
