New Immigrations laws allow visa changes to be made here in Pattaya.

Police Colonel Itipon, the Chief of Pattaya’s Immigration Bureau located in Soi 5 off of Jomtien Beach invited members of the local media to the office on Wednesday to discuss new Immigration services available at the Pattaya Office. Pattaya will become the first Immigration Office to offer a comprehensive range of online services designed to cut the waiting time for visa stamps and other visa requirements which, in the past, have meant waiting in long queues.

As soon as the Pattaya Immigration Website is fully operational forms used to order re-entry permits for business and other long stay visas and 90 day notification forms will be able to be completed on-line and although you will have to present yourself to the office, the idea is to submit the forms first and we are told that only one short visit to the office is required to complete the visa stamp or 90 day notification procedure. The Colonel also mentioned that changes of visa status from Tourist to Non-Immigrant, for example, had to be completed at the Bangkok Immigration Office.

An amendment to the law now allows for visa changes to be made at provincial offices such as Pattaya. For more information you can contact the Pattaya Immigration Bureau on 038 410 240 or visit their website which is www.pattayaimmigration.com

So after you fill in the 90 day renwal form on line, you still have to go along to immigration and queue up. :D

Last time I went and did my 90 day thing the filling in of the form only took 2 minutes , it was the 15 minutes of queueing up after that took the time. :D

Sounds like another load of Jackson Pollocks to me :o

Last time I went to the new office for the 90 day old folks extension I checked the time it took.

3 minutes to get there

2 minutes to wait

2 minutes to get the form checked

3 minutes to get back

In my humble opinion they are THE slickest government body in town, very polite and very efficient.

I agree with you Rimmer.

I just can't see how filling the form in on line saves any time :o

I agree with Mr. Rimmer and Mr. Kurgen also. I did my 90-day reporting at 10.30 this morning. The Immigration Office was packed with people and my wife suggested that we return later. I wanted to get it over with and, after squeezing myself into the writing area to collect a form, I collected my number from the machine. I expected a long wait but, before I was able to complete my form, my number was called only a couple of minutes later. In all, I was there for no more than 10 to 15 minutes. Very smooth, very pleasant and very courteous staff.

I agree Artisan, the same happened to me last month.

All in all, i think what they have done is a vast improvement on the operations that they had on soi 8 and they seem to be adding more small improvements all the time.

I say "Let's not knock em". Farang in other parts of Thailand would love this level of service :o

Why don't you take a few forms home with you, saves all that squeezing for your lovely wife, and you can fill them in at your leisure. :D
