Hi,

I need to dress respectable for teaching and have no respectable clothes.

I only need pants and shirts but I don't want artificial fibers.

So when I went shopping I found that if you don"t want polyester,a 100% cotton pants costs about 1200bht and they feel as if they would be really hot.For a cotton shirt you must pay about 700bht.

So I'm wondering if I got tailor made silk would it not be only a little bit more expensive and a lot cooler.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

My questions are how much is a tailor made pants or shirt.

I asked my missus and she said it depends on the cloth but I would like to know roughly where the bargaining starts.

And where is there a good tailor in Chiang Rai.

Thanks a lot

Hate to say it but your missus is correct in saying it all depends on the cloth you select.

In my experience silk is hotter and much more difficult to launder.

Decades ago there weren’t the clothing options that exist today and a tailor was often necessary. These days there are so many options I can’t help but think you are looking in all the wrong places.

As for a good tailor in Chiang Rai, I have no personal experience but guess one shouldn’t be too hard to find.

Silk is hotter than cotton....................well that finishes that then.

Thank you for saving me a lot of time and expense

I can now just order light cotton on the internet.

Easy.

Have a look around the military camp. There are taylors doing uniforms for the military.

There are two shops on Na Khai, the road from Den Ha towards Chiang Rai beach, around and opposit the entrance to the camp, where the helicopter stands.

Another one at the end of San Kong Noi near Den Ha intersection. Have a look and see where you feel comfortable.

Yet another one on the street where La vie en rose hotel is on, opposit side towards Den Ha, has lots of stars and stripes uniforms in the window.

For trousers I prefer a light linnen, very cool and classy, but wrinkle easily though, so lots of ironing. Last for ever and a cloth with a nice shine and"drop"to it. Ever so comfortable.

I have used the Tailor located in front of Wang Come Hotel. It is on the right side walking away from Hotel going towards night bazzar.
