Experienced increased difficulty with vision a while ago,put up with it for few days hoping it would disappear,on closer inspection my lower eyelid was red on the underside, and days later started to itch, vision rapidly diminishing. Spoke with friend who had exactly the same problem, waking up with deposits around his eyes,he expressed in all probability was caused by smoke, fumes etc.

After he travelled to various docs with no success ever watching his bills climb I studied the 'net and took advice form local eye glass vendor. Came to the conclusion it was bacterial infection, taking anti- bacterial tabs with cream seems to have it beaten.

It may,and I say may,be caused by lubricated eye drops

Last time I counted human beings only possess two eyes ! Eyes are precious and should be treated with great care and respect.

The internet and the local "eye glass" guy are not perhaps the best place(s) to obtain advice if one has a problem with ones eyes !

A problem which does not rapidly resolve with a Drs prescribed treatment requires evaluation by a specialist and would normally involve a visit to the hospital and a consultation with an ophthalmologist/ophthalmic surgeon.

As said there is always a chance it could be a serious problem needing immediate action so a visit to an ophthalmologist is well worth the less than 1,000 baht it should cost at most hospitals.

If you can not reason that expense suggest you start with below and go from there.

That was great,Thanks. Got it beaten anyway, prob was bacterial.

Think 1000 baht was wishful thinking,my friends bill is at 18000

18000? Must have been gold plated advise !

"Gold plated crap" would do, fools gold anyway. If it doesn't look like a pig, but it oinks like a pig, and smells like a pig, it is probably a pig.

I have regular eye care at a good private hospital and exam is about 500 baht so 1k would cover most hospitals/doctors. Even with 3 month supply of medications to lower pressure it never comes to more than a few thousand baht.

The OP,seems to be OK,

Blurred vision can also be a sign of diabetes type 2,along with, constant hunger and dry mouth when sleeping.

The blood test is cheap and painless, but worth the effort, for peace of mind.

Funnily enough had much the same problem. Really quite painful. Eye drops definitely worsened it. I live in Bangkok and I put it down to the incredible dry heat we have had lately not to mention the fumes, chemicals, smog and dust that is part of my daily lot. Air conditioning makes it worse too. And in my case I suffer from a sinus blockage during this weather too. Oh happy days.

I really should get my eyes checked again as thebold man had the acute onset glaucoma which thankfully got treated.

The specifics about where you go would be helpful. I woke up today with one super red/itchy eye and I should go have it checked out. Probably just part of my long allergy list, but you never know.

I use Vejthani Hospital in Latphao area of Bangkok as it is close-by and not overly expensive for a major private hospital but all hospitals will have eye care section. The major dedicated eye hospital is Rutnin on Soi Asoke and would likely be about the same price as other major hospitals.
