What Is The Nicest Thing That A Complete Stranger Has Ever Done For You?

With or without payment?

.

That's a good question.

I would say generally not done with a pecuniary interest such as wonderful experiences with prostitutes.

However if some token monetary appreciation was later offered and accepted for a good deed done without profit motive, I think that wouldn't disqualify.

I arrived in a middle eastern country and the people who were supposed to meet me didnt show. An American military type in civvies asked me where I needed to be, steered me away from taxi touts and gave a taxi driver the correct amount of local currency to get me there. I told him I could take the money from an ATM but he said not worth it for such a small amount. The man was a gentleman.

Also up in NE Thailand driving a hire car when the accelerator jammed, I stopped the car and before I could even get on the floor to look at it a Thai guy pulled up and helped, we got it sorted enough to get the car returned. Had to practically force some baht on him to huy a few beers, another gent.

Thais that I did not known have done lots of nice small things.

Back in the hippie days in USA, free rides, free meals, free drugs and free places to stay.

I was in the Virgin Islands when a Supertyphoon hit home. I took the first possible flight back. When I arrived at 1 am, the airport was basically closed with no taxis and no way to phone home. A local man told me to wait while he took his family home and he would come back for me. I waited and wondered if he was really comming back as it was a pretty long trip to where he lived. Finally, he showed up and took me on a longer trip in the opposite direction to my house. All in the middle of the night on an island with no power and thus no stop or street lights. My wife and I said thanks and he left for his home. I am sure that he had a lot of work the next day. I know that I did.

A few years ago I was coming up to one of the hated toll bridges in Oz. Got the money out to pay but the girl told me the guy in the car in front had already paid for it. I never knew, nor will ever meet the guy.

It was a very nice gesture and one I also started doing. So everytime I paid the toll I paid for the car behind.

Thank Buddha I never had to cross it too often, I'd be broke. smile.png

When I was 12 years old I used an inflatable ride raft on Miami Beach and within seconds I was pushed far off shore. As my swimming was weak I just held on to the raft but I was also panicking. There were no lifeguards. I had no plan except to hold on the raft as I was in deep water. So then these two handsome athletic men in their 30's of unknown nationality swam into the water and rescued me. Of course I thanked them but they didn't stick around. It's a little awkward, what do you say to people who just saved your life? I really think if these mystery men hadn't been there, that would have been it for me. I was later told there had been recent shark sightings not far off shore on that beach.

I think it was in 84 in Phuket, a bunch of us ( me included ) got drunker then hell in a gogobar at the end we could barely walk ( BE HONEST WE MADE THE PHUKET CRAWL, DID THE CHICKEN DANCE AND A LOT MORE, I CAN NOT TELL ) in these days really popular, we threw money at all the girls, put money in their bras( if you can call it bras, in their shorts, their underwear and wherever we could find a spot and where pretty closed to pee our pants for laughing our asses of, at 3 am in the morning we asked the mamasan if somebody can take us home to our hotel, she was giggling and laughing, as all the girls,

she called her boss, he sent his driver with his car and he drove us to our hotel, the driver didn't took any money from us, during our drunkiness we didn't got pickpocket, nothing, but of course next night same story but not so insane, we were able to walk home with the girls and everybody got lucky and so we lived happily ever after

btw, think about it 15 guys from Germany all in their mid/late twenties and 20 thai girls are doing the chicken dance at 2 am in a Phuket gogobar, that we closed out, I am telling you : if I remember it right, either half naked or half dressed, I barely remember one of us doing backward flip flupps! in his speedos and his little man was hanging out, a laughter for all of us, just priceless, no way nowadays most of the fun is dun, sad
