Greenside
Does anyone know if there are any significant differences between the MKT and NKT air conditioners? CS/CU PC12MKT which is an OK 12,000 btu split unit is on sale at Global House for 12,700 baht (+ installation of 2,000) whereas the CS/CU PC12NKT is up for 16,600 baht. The sales guy could only point to the fact that the Energy Rating sticker on the the more expensive one is a more recent date but as they are both a 5, I don't see that it matters. Am | missing something? I will have five to buy before long so the price is important.
bankruatsteve
Perhaps the higher priced one is "inverter". (?) Or, maybe check out Mitsubishi - I have those for 10 years in Thailand and very happy.
Greenside
Not an inverter - they're another price hike still but thanks for the thought. My experience with Mitsu (Heavy Industries) has been the opposite of yours so I'm predisposed against another. We have found the Panosonics good so far (although a couple of years is hardly a real test) except that the remote design is rather poor and confusing. lopburi3
Reading believe the more expensive had a new corrosion resistant coating process on outside unit and perhaps new blade design for fan on inside unit. You really should check the written data on those "5" labels as the number, as you know, means nothing anymore as everything is 5. But they do print the actual costs of running so you could compare those. I have several Panasonic 9k models and have been pleased with them but they do get dirty fast. Have bought a Mitsubishi Electric model when compared inverter models with Panasonic as much more efficient and have been very happy with it. Mitsubishi Electric (not Heavy Industries).
