I've been really happy with are performances so far this season and pleased to see Rafa has finally realised that he has to play his strongest team all the time and that means Steven Gerrard has to play in the middle.

I hope he plays Mascherano along side Gerrard for the away game against Sunderland , I think the boy is world class and offers a bit more than Alonso when it comes to getting stuck in .

Also, Gerrard had to actually put it in the net which shows the quality of their side above Aston Villas. Valid win, but go on believing it if you like. At first I thought that wasn't a foul but after watching it again there was obstruction and grabbing of the jersey by the Villa player. Free kicks are given like that all the time but it rarely results in a goal. Not a foregone conclusion. With a penalty, a much higher standard is expected. In such a close game, it was a horrible decision.

Transfers between the two north-west rivals are rare, and the last player to move from United to Liverpool was Phil Chisnal in 1962.
