Hi all, i hope that i have posted this in the right section.

I have just started having land at the back of my home back filled, it measures about 1050 m2 and is about 2-1/2 meters deep. The reason for this is to make a new garden, plus i do not like it as i have a daughter 2 years old and it is a constant worry, although i have a gate on the back wall. It was used originaly for fish, as we got the land given off my wifes mother as a wedding present.

What i want to know is would the land they are using be from an old rice field or from some where that someone wants to make a rice field. I am in the USA at the working and will not get back until the 26th of this month.

If it is land from an old rice field, will i have to do something with the land say the top 1 or 2 foot, so i can start to make the garden ie put a lawn down and flower beds.

I do not want to start planting and find out i have wasted my time.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Geordie.

I'm not the world's greatest expert on fill but I do know that it comes in different grades and the cheapest and most common one, about 300baht/truckload up in CM area, is very poor quality. You might use this for the bottom part of the fill then raise the quality as it gets higher.

Thanks for the reply Sleepyjohn,

i have had 2 prices for the land fill, 1 said 5oobaht for a truck says maybe about 300 trucks maybe more. The 1 that is doing it has given my wife a price all in of 150.000 baht. The size that i mentioned in my post is the size of the hole that had the fish in it. When i built my house i had that part of the land raised, so i will be filling the hole up and then about 1 meter higher to get all of the land to the same height.

Do you think it would be ok to have the last 1 meter using good land it needed.

Cheers Geordie
