4G Lte Arrives In Thailand

Hello Everyone,

Been reading for information here for a while but just registered. Reading a lot of things about 4G and questions asked, just wanted to help translate some of the Thai to explain whats going on with the whole 4G launch in Thailand.

So basically, legally, under the 2100 Mhz license acquired by True, they are rolling out a 4G LTE network, which is the same technology used by Verizon, AT&T, and others... This is really great for Thailand in my opinion, for once, we're not super (just two years) behind the others.

I'm looking at some pictures about True's 4G LTE speed tests and they look up to standard:

http://sphotos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s480x480/179141_170644459765100_1290882744_n.jpg

(66 MBPS & 59 MBPS down), obviously once its deployed it won't be that fast but should still be substantially faster than 3.5G currently deployed.

Phones:

True's LTE network currently only works with a select few phones (An Xperia phone and the Nokia Lumia) (http://tech.mthai.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/AW_TMH_4G_LEAFLET_People_Final_19.jpg)- It will soon, however, be available on iPhone 5, there just waiting for Apple's approval (Apple makes sure the network is up to standard before upgrading).

Coverage:

True claims they will cover all of Bangkok and major cities by the end of the year. For now, the network is available in the Siam area, Rama 9, Satorn, and other main streets and BTS stations. Here is a coverage map:

Prices:

699 Baht: 2GB data, 300 minutes

899 Baht: 3GB data, 450 minutes

1099 Baht: 4GB data, 550 minutes

if anyone else has any more information to add, feel free, thanks!
