I don't know much about 4 star accommodations but I know of a nice 1 star guest house that caters nicely for wheelchairs. (PM me if you'd like info)

My sister who is in a wheelchair was not unhappy in the Holiday Inn and in the Impiana Phuket Cabana on both holidays she was here.

Both resorts have been rebuilt and remodeled after the tsunami and I have not been in there since, so it might be well worth it asking them directly (they all have websites).

If their answer is knowledgeable it would indicate as well, that service staff is aware and can handle such a situation and special requests; not only the facilities are important for a good holiday.

Be aware that although there are disabled-friendly hotels, Patong itself is not.

Steep gutters, broken paving, steps to nearly all restaurants and I cannot think of easy access to the beach. A wheelchair bound friend wanted to come here for a holiday and I suggested Hawaii or North Queensland, much the same climate but all requires by law to provide wheelchair (etc) access.

And I don't know a toilet around Bangla or the beach that would be suitable.

No can do im afraid Bob, all the above sounds like the last place for a wheelchair, I totally agree. On the other hand can Hawaii or North Queensland supply an attractive 21 year old Thai lady to attend to his every "need" for $50 a day like Patong can ?

Yes, its a single guy who hasn't been laid for years, hes not worried about a few cracked pave stones !! :o

Thanks all for the input, am checking on Holiday Inn and Impiana. Sorry, Phuket Palace too far out and not high enough standard.
