I see that the Nationality Act B.E. 2508 (1965) has been further amended by the Nationality Act (No, 5) B.E 2555 (2012). I have been unable to find a link to Nationality Act (No. 4), B.E. 2551 itself but for the record I attach a copy of the Nationality Act B.E. 2508 (1965) with all amendments up to and including those contained in Nationality Act (No.5) B.E.2555 (2012).

The amendments of 2012 are minor and do not affect the acquisition or loss of Thai nationality except regarding displace persons. Note: readers must be logged in to open or download attachments.

Thai Nationality Act 2008 in translation and in Thai attached. This one was very significant to TV members because it added clauses 11.4 and 11.5 which give men with Thai wives exemption from 5 years' residence and knowledge of the Thai language as prescribed in the regulations. That means they don't need permanent residence and don't need to sing the National and Royal Anthems, a big stumbling block for many applicants. It is still not as easy as it is for women with Thai husbands under Section 9 but it was argued that allowing men to apply Section 9 would have constituted a threat to national security and risked dilution to the Kingdom's quintessential Thainess as large numbers foreign of men (i.e. retirees) would have become eligible. Thus a slight gender imbalance remains but the Act removed a large measure the unfairness in that area. The Act also formalised into statutory law a number of provisions relating to rights to Thai nationality for those born in Thailand to alien parents before 1992, most of which previously existed according to various cabinet resolutions that had addressed each ethnic group piecemeal.

Thank you very much, Arkady. Actually, I made a mistake and meant to say that I don't have the Nationality Act (No. 5) by itself, but because of its relative unimportance to our members I don't mind. I am very happy, though, to have now the Thai original text of No. 4.

For what it's worth here is The Nationality Act 2012 No. 5. It was very important to NGO activists who waited many years for it but not of much interest to TV members. I think I have all of them going back to the first one of 1913.
