jimrothstein Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 I take Diovan (generic: VALSARTAN), made by Novartis. Diovan is now off patent and so I am looking for generic version here in Thailand. Anyone have any experience with finding generic Diovan ? I found this post from 2010, regarding VALATAN, made by Silom Medical. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/379166-blood-pressure-medication/#entry3729863 I have looked around but only find non-generic Diovan; one pharmacist checked MIMS guide and said 'not available' in Thailand. Thanks.
Sheryl Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Valartan made by Silom Medical is the only Iocally made generic equivalent. For assistance in finding a pharmacy with it suggest you contact Silom Medical and ask them what pharmacies they have supplied in the recent past. If yo uare prepared to purchase in bulk, you might also be able to arrange to purchase directly from them (which will be less expensive as wholesale price) Simom Medical 35/3 Suparaj Soi 1 Phaholyothin Rd Phayathai Bangkok 10400 Contact Number: Tel: 0 2272 6890-7, 1800-227-211 Fax: 0 2272 6922, 1800-227-212 Otherwise there is only Diovan brand, made by Novartis and distributed by Zuellig.
GaryB7471 Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Bump. Has anyone seen generic Diovan yet. Diovan is expensive so I thought I would ask.
Sheryl Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Have you asked for Valartan at a large pharmacy?
GaryB7471 Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 I could not find any reference to Valartan on the internet.
Sheryl Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Valartan is a local Thai brand of valsartan. See post #2. Everything you read re valsartan/Diovan would apply.
geovalin Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 I went to the office of the company making the thai generic for valsartan, called valatan. They don't sell directly but they gave me the address of a whole sale pharmacy selling it not that far (on pradipat). Price of the 28 pills is 290 thb. At least 6000 thb saved per year. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app ThaiVisa, c'est aussi en français ThaiVisa, it's also in French
Sheryl Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Great! If you have the name or more detailed address of the pharmacy, please share it. 1
