3 Phase Conection Cable

Inside your pillar, you can install a 3 phase 4 way sub mains distribution board, which could be fed via a 25mm 3 phase supply, or 2x25mm parrallel supply (which is only 40m from the PEA meter)

from here you can supply your 2, 3 phase Distribution Boards in your house. One supply could be 25mm, and the other 16mm

and then you can also supply your apartment via your own meter from the above box with an 10mm cable which of course would be single phase.

You then have capacity for extra circuitry to extra DB's if you go the extra with the parallel supply.

Thanks for all the 3ph advice.

When I had the contractor ask the electrical sub-con if we could do this with a single phase supply and 25mm² cable this morning, he simply said "Yes" so really it turns out that all that headache was caused because they thought we wanted 3ph and that came from someone telling me at one point a couple of years ago that it was going to be needed. Moral: Ask the right questions and make no assumptions! Now we can save some money on the cable run, cable, meter and load centre which will be much needed for the road. smile.png

IMHO: The foil was offered but they said that they don't need it yet. Can't understand how they are going to do the fixing but will keep a careful eye on it to see that we get the best air gap possible. The project is 5 weeks behind the schedule but they keep saying they expect to recover some of that.

Those tile people work fast....

Well if you see them start placing tiles, you'll then know they didn't understand what you were talking about in regards to the foil ;)

Foil has already been missed under the battens, don't let them lay a single tile without it now, otherwise you'll have yourself an oven..

Hey Greenside, just to say: no matter what you decide (or your spark ends up doing), I "think" you will be OK. I'm pretty darn sure you do not have a 300a max demand and whatever it actually is will most likely be just fine with 25mm2 3-phase on 15/45, or 35mm2 on 1-phase with 30/100 meter. (and I would just go with the 25mm2 you already have in either case.)

In my opinion.

Ok I have done some more calcs for you, with diversity taken into account, you are still looking at a 50A per phase

You WILL require a minimum of 35mm x 4 cables (3 phase + Neutral)

Looks like you would also need to upgrade to 30/100 meter.

UK regs state that you can run cables in parallel, but they MUST be of same size, and take the same route. Which will in fact give you a greater Current Carrying Capacity than a single 50mm (If you use 2x25mm)

Please take advise from my previous posts, where you can install the Sub Mains with 2x25mm cables @ length of 40 meters.

If unclear I will glady do you a diagram.

The Architect and the electrical sub contractor went to talk to the PEA this afternoon and were told it was OK to bring in 2 additional 25mm cables and run 3 phase to the the new house on a 15/45 meter - leaving the Studio on single phase with a separate meter in the road. I hadn't seen your most recent posts before they went so I treated that as good news.

Sounds like a result, separate meter and bill for the rental. No arguments over the tenant's share of a single bill.
