Tourist Visa - Exit and Re-entry

Featured Replies

Morning all,

I have a dilema, I hold a triple tourist visa, I am coming to the end of the first one, which expires net week. I understand I have to exit Thailand by plane and re-enter. Question is, how many nights must i be out of Thailand? some people tell me you can fly out and then in the same day, others state two days away.

Grateful for any help.

You can do it by land or air just leave and re-enter within minutes if you want to.

Thank you for your reply. I trust the experts here, and will not listen to the bar flies again. Wish I had known earlier, I could of done a land crossing, saving lots of dosh on flights..... but I know now for the future.

Don't forget each entry can be extended for 30 days at any immigration office inside Thailand for baht 1900.

But when you go the extension route, make sure you don't pass the validity (use before) date of the visa, as when you're over it becomes invalid. You may have to do a visa run a few days before the extension expires.

All the above info is correct. Land or air crossing OK, can u-turn right after being stamped in the next country.

Additional question, as I am unsure of things here........ on my return, into BKK DMK, will I have to show cash 20,000thb and another air ticket leaving thailand for my third run?

No

Immigration does not normally does not ask for proof of funds and since you have a visa ticket would never be required.

Hey,

Thanks again. I thought as much, but good to check, and don't want to carry the cash around unnecessarily.

Morning all,

If I may gain some info....

My 2nd Tourist Visa and permission to stay ends on the 9th Sept. I am aware I can go to the local immigration office (Samui), where I can get an extension.

Is there a form I need to complete? is it available online? Any Top Tips.......Any info on what they will require to see for the extension?

Thanks again.

Just remember, the third entry must be made on or before the "must enter by date on your visa, not the expiry date of your permission to stay A Visa is a ticket to enter Thaiand and must be used on or before the "must enter by" date on the visa. It's like a bus ticket, you use or lose on that date!

Thanks...Got it.

This is my 2nd Tourist visa and I didn't extend the first 2 months. My enter by is 24th Oct. Gives me extension for 30 days now, then exit before 24th Oct and stay the last visa 2 months etc.

I notice the TM7 asks for reasons for extension, any tips here?
