Mystery over Phuket body in duvet
Prapaporn Jitmaneeyaphan

PHUKET: -- Mystery surrounds the body of a young man found wrapped in a duvet at the side of Soi Sai Yuan 17 about 10.30 pm Wednesday (July 3).

Pol Lt Tada Sodarak of Chalong Police Station said the body was discovered and reported by a “well wisher”.

There were no visible wounds on the body but Lt Tada said it appeared that the dead man – later identified as Anuwat Kathong, 23, of Phang Nga – may have been murdered.

Mr Anuwat worked for a fishing boat company out of Chalong Bay and lived with his girlfriend in rented accommodation close to the PTT gas station on Chao Fah West Rd.

She told police she had last seen him when he had driven away from their home the previous day on his motorbike.

She and members of his family added that he had no quarrels with anyone and was in good health.

The body was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital for an autopsy to establish the cause of death.

Possible working accident?? Cheaper for the employer to dispose the body, than to pay compensation to the family!

PHUKET: -- The body of a man believed to have been murdered was found wrapped in a blanket by the roadside in Rawai just after midnight on July 4.

“His skull was broken – it looked like it had been hit with a hard object. His face was bloodied and covered with a black plastic bag,” said Chalong Police Captain Thada Sodarak.

"We believe he had been dead for one to two days," he added.

The victim was identified as Anuwat Kathong, 25, from Phang Nga.

"He worked at Chalong Pier,” Capt Thada said.

Local residents saw the blanket tied with telephone cord by the side of the road. When they noticed feet sticking out of it, they stopped to investigate, he explained.

“We will continue the investigation to determine the cause of death and find the killer,” Capt Thada said.

The two different stories could make me consider there were two seperate crime scenes

One guy spoke to a reporter after looking at the body wrapped in the duvet. No visible wounds. The other guy unwrapped the body then looked at the corpse and saw the wound?

The body was wrapped in a duvet and the suspect murder? I can't ever recall hearing about someone committing suicide by way of a duvet? Must have put their best investigators on this case.
