PHUKET: A pregnant buffalo that wandered onto the bypass road late Saturday night withstood the blows of three cars before dying in the median strip.

Kusoldharm rescue workers were called to the bypass road in front of Porntip Sea Store at 1am yesterday to aid the injured motorists.

The first vehicle to strike the buffalo was a taxi carrying passengers from the airport, a witness told Kusoldharm Foundation rescue workers. It sustained front-end damage, but no one in the car was hurt.

“The second car hit the buffalo and flipped over, and the injured driver was rushed to Bangkok Hospital Phuket,” the rescue worker said.

The last car approaching the scene wasn’t able to brake in time and also hit the buffalo. That driver was injured and taken to Phuket International Hospital, he said.

Nobody has claimed ownership of the buffalo or taken responsibility for its actions, said the rescue worker.

This "them" you're talking about, you have statistics on this? Is it based on 100's of similar cases you've studied? Been surveying "them" to see what the consensus is? Or is this the usual declaration of some behavioral traits for "them" and "theres" that suit your worldview of how millions of "them" all are bound operate in different situations?

Just curious because it seems whenever one of "them" do or do not do something there must be some wealth of knowledge to which some posters have ready access so they can reach startling conclusions on just how anyone of "them" will be certain to behave.

Quite modest of you to admit not having any pronouncements on the law "on this one!"

Thank you for the great "contribution" more meaningless post is still to come I guess...... I think people were quite lucky not dying hitting that buffalo...O I am happy for them.

Just curious but if the vehicles have first class insurance will the company pay out for the damage to the vehicles, or is it down to the buffalo owner to cover the repairs ??

After living in the country for a while I have seen several cases of buffalos causing damage to vehilcles and in every case the buffalo owner was liable for damages.

I seem to recall when I sat my driving test there was a question about buffaloes on the road & they should not be on the road after dark in which case the owner would be liable as these accidents happened at night.

Who is liable has no influence on the pay out.

First class insurance will pay, the insurance company will try to recoup the money from the owner.

i live there and those buffalos are out in the middle of the street pretty much every week at any hour. Very often ive taken my bike at 11pm and gotten stuck on the main road by the herd walking around unattended while the young kid watching them was getting leo'd up at one of the local bars

Hmm, can't imagine not being able to see a buffalo and not being able to drive around it, even if it was night time. Guess I would have had to been there to understand.

Assuming it stands still of course......

Once again the Thai driver/owner/operator of a moving vehicle (buffaloe) has fled the scene after being fully responsible for injuries and damages.
