Having just upgraded to the Platinum package I find I still cannot access the GoldA channels including ITV. After much wasted time on the telephone trying to speak to TrueVision I figured it was probably easier and more reliable to ask the question here! Soooo, the question is, what do we need to do to get access to the GoldA channels so that I can watch the likes of Spooks et al?

Many thanks in advance.

True visions doesn't have ITV for a start so I doubt very much you will ever get that.

The additional BBC package a la carte can be added for baht 150 a month I believe, there was a time when it was included in the platinum package but not any more, the same applies or a few other channels,it's all another True money spinner.

Sorry, it's my channel 82 which is a GoldA channel but I guess is perhaps BBC.

So such channels are adds on at 150 baht a time, hmmm, that's sneaky.

Thanks anyway.

Yes channel 82 BBC lifestyle is included in the platinum package as is channel 30 BBC knowledge, the additional channels numbers 82 BBC Entertainment and 43 Cbeebies are additional,I think 150 baht a month.

Very sneaky indeed.

I get bbc knowledge channel on 30. It is included in my Gold package.

82 is BBC Entertainment where you get to watch 20 year old stuff like Absolutely Fabulous and Fawlty Towers along with some decent, but very old mysteries/police stuff like George Gently or Silent Witness.

For the A La Carte channel for Gold package, please see the following details:

  1. BBC (2 channels: BBC Entertainment and BBC Cbeebies) A La Carte is 170 Baht per month
  2. Discovery (4 channels: Discovery Science, Discovery Turbo, TLC and Discovery Home & Health) A La Carte is 190 Baht per month
  3. Disney (2 channels: Disney Junior and Disney Channel) A La Carte is 170 Baht per month
  4. HBO (3 channels: HBO Signature, HBO Family and HBO Hits)A La Carte is 220 Baht per month

Thanks for the info about TrueVision. What is the best package, True Vision or anything else and at what cost Per Month in Chiang Mai?

We currently have WETV (Worst Ever TV) which is on cable and frequently "DOWN" while they are "adjusting something"... sounds like B.S.

Thanks in advance.

I've taken advantage of an offer (now closed) and for ฿3999.00, I've got all the UK channels plus a few others for 12 months, which I watch on the internet and my large screen desk top computer.

The programs are either live or go back 7 days.

What's the best package? Like asking what's the best food menu for a day of eating.

The new CTH package looks like a good all rounder and cheap, but it is a new kid on the block and reliability cannot be assured. Nonetheless it's where all the English football fans are going as it is pretty much the only show in town (apart from streaming) if you want live English Premier League football.

True's Gold package is absolutely rubbish value at about 1,500 baht now. One so-so movie channel and a load of rubbish movie channels plus a load of American second rate trailer trash TV bearded shitkickers, junk-chasers and their like. There is good American TV (and I'm no US-hater), just not in the Gold package and maybe not anywhere on True for all I know) which makes a poor base for the more expensive packages. True are delusional about the value of their so-called higher end offerings, but the Entertainment package at 800 and odd baht seems like sensible value, if coupled with another provider who gives you the special focus you need on either movies, sport or documentaries.

I reckon you are going to have to do your own web-site research on the channels offered in each of the package offerings if you really want to get what suits you best.

I don't get what you are saying. I ditched True gold package when they came around offering WETV for 99 Baht per month for the first 6 months. Then 350 per month after the promo vs. 1500+ I was paying for True. I've never looked back. Frequently down??? In all the years we've had WETV I can count on one hand the amount of times it has been down. They usually notify you when they are going to redo the channel line up and even then it's only down for an hour or so. And then once in a great while after very heavy winds or something it may be down for a short while. I find it very reliable and rarely ever "DOWN".

In fairness and depending on ones individual monthly budget and watching habits,by western prices i.e. Sky tv in the UK,i find it pretty reasonable to retain True Platinum and have the CTH top end package as well.

Total cost works out to about GBP £70 at today's conversion.

Not that much more than what I was paying back home with all Sky's hidden add on's.

I'm paying about THB 2k for Platinum, plus THB 100 for BBCE, I don't feel inclined to get sucked into paying an extra 100 for this and 100 for that for additonal channels, if I can't find something half way decent to entertain me out of 150 or so channels I need to be doing some things differently. So that makes THB 2.2k or about GBP 47, that seems acceptable but GBP 70 seems very excessive.

For those with deeper pockets and familiar with Japanese you can add NHK World Premium for just 973฿ a month!

And this includes what?

But that is for two separate subscriptions to two individual providers, the only way to fulfil ones appetite for live sport in HD.

British Tv drama, some of the best in the world.

The Village, Pillars of the Earth, World without End.

Whilst i'm not exactly up with all this tech stuff, i did as suggested but was only given a ''trial'' ....must pay 390 for the deal i am told.

Has it changed since your post or am i doing something wrong?

Cheers for any info..

Using a VPN to fool the system into thinking you're in UK, you can watch many programs from BBC and ITV (haven't looked at channel 4 or 5) on iPlayer which is just catchup for free.

Programs uploaded are available for a month.

Be the change that you wish to see in the world.
