Options for overnight transport from Koh Phangan to Bangkok

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I plan to use Lomphraya travel to get from Bkk to Phangan. However, the return leaves at 8AM meaning I would be spending a day sat on a bus back to Bangkk which I would prefer not to.

If anyone knows of how I can travel back overnight on a VIP bus that is comfortable enough to sleep on please let me know.

Thanks

Fly from Surat Thani. You can get a ticket for 1700 or so. Worth it, trust me.

You can take the 24 Seat VIP Bus from Tongsala direct.

Make sure you get this bus, coz they have the real sleeping Seats.

Bus starts at 17:00. Will go on the Raja Ferry, so you not have to carry your luggage around.

Raja Ferry will arrive 20:00 at Donsak Pier. Then the Bus will drive all night with a late Dinner stop in between.

At 6:00 clock in the morning you will arrive in Sai Thai (South Bangkok) Bus Terminal.

Preis all in is 1150 Baht.

Hope that helps.

1) Raja ferry to Surat Thani, then VIP night bus to Bangkok. Tickets can be bought at any travel agents, or hotels that act like travel agents. Can also be bought at http://www.thaiticketmajor.com/index.php?la=en
2) Raja ferry to Surat Thani, bus or minivan to train station, then overnight sleeper train to Bangkok. Can no longer be bought online.
3) Raja Ferry to Surat Thani, bus to Surat Thani airport, then flight back with Thai airways

4) Small ferry to Samui, flight via Thai airways or Bangkok Airways. Most expensive option but fastest

Lomprayah also have Bangkok route starting from KPG at 13:00. You'll arrive to Chumpon around 16:30 and the bus will drive from Chumpon and arrive in BKK Khaosarn 00:30.

fully agree on that one, much safer, faster and a lot less hassle. did it a couple of times with the bus back from KP worst one was 15 hours from Chumporn.

This is about as comfortable as a bus can get. Well worth paying the extra 300 baht for the VIP bus.

Although most passengers start at Thongsala, it actually starts at a bus station in Baan Tai that no one seems to know about at around 4PM then waits for a long time at Thongsala. This option was convenient for me because I was staying walking distance from the Baan Tai station.

I usually take Air Asia down to Ko Phngnan but in order to catch the late afternoon return flight it requires taking an early morning ferry with lots of waiting around the airport.
