Does anyone know of a place in Chiang Rai where I can get a brass plaque engraved?

All the shops that put the credits on cups and trophies tell me that they use lasers and make a new plaque each year to go on the trophy with the new winner's name added to all the previous names.

I can't do that as the sailing trophy I have for the last two years has a solid brass plate which has been engraved several times using the old fashioned method.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

There's a key cutter as you go into the stairwell from the undercover car park at Central, I'd certainly ask him, they seem to do things like trophy engraving in other countries.

Good point and there is also a key maker van out the front of BIG C's entrance on the Siam Bank side.

Check with Jewlers. Ones that actually make a product. Another thing make sure everything you need written is clearly typed and printed and is spelled correctly. Even in Australia handwriting causes horrible errors on engraving.

Thanks guys. I'll give those a try.

How did it go with the engraving work?

No luck yet. I left the brass plaque with one shop who said they could do it. They called me next day and said that they didn't have the right sized letters. Maybe they meant they didn't have the latin alphabet. When I got to the shop the lady said they couldn't engrave the shiny side of the brass plate with all the other names engraved on it as it was too shiny. But they could do it on the back which is quite rough and unpolished.! I have tried Mae Sai and Mae Chan but haven't given up yet.

I went to the man in Big C who does the business cards. He couldn"t do engraving but he gave me two phone numbers in town where it could be done. I called both numbers and followed their directions to the same steel/metal workshop.

They had no idea about engraving. So now I have given up and I'll take the brass plaque with me on my next trip back to Oz and get it done there. I also have to go to the U.K. next month for a week, so I may take it and get it engraved there.
