OS upgrades by imobile?

Featured Replies

Mates,

Does imobile offer upgrades for their android smartphones, either at their shops or ota?

Or, if I want a newer android version I need to get a new phone model altogether?

Cheers

Yes. No.

It all depends on model. Some of the newer ones do OTA. Others you have to take to the service centers. I-mobile have no promise to upgrade to the next version of Android. But then most at that price range don't either. Theyjust

Don't expect a serious firmware or OS upgrade from those re-branded chinese telephones. OTA is a joke.

Have you got an I-mobile? Explain why OTA is joke. Is it the principal of OTA or just how I-mobile do it ...?? More details. I'm interested.

I have used several top end MTK chinese phones (zopo, thl and others) and i-mobile is using same platform. I also played with imobile 5.7" dualcore model (can't remember exact model).

You defend your phone in every topic but ignoring the facts. Having an OTA feature does not mean it will receive updates via OTA. Also, these phones are usually forgotten by the manufacturer and doesn't get a major Android update. There could be updates for fixing bugs using same android sdk but thats just it.

My phone doesn't have OTA and I haven't received a JB update. But at the time I bought the phone it was the best value.. Now there are others from Huwai. Lenova etc that look OK. Not to mention the Samsung Core / Win etc.. nice phones for not a lot of money.

This is what has put me off iMobile. From a poster elsewhere it seems that even their 'flagship' IQ X phones won't be getting Android 4.3, let alone 4.3 which is just around the corner. Accept these phones at ard 8-9K baht cost MUCH less than the likes of the S4 or HTC One, but not much less than the Galaxy S3 and Nexus 4 which are still excellent devices, have got 4.3 already and will likely get 4.4, esp the Nexus 4.

i-mobile is made in Thailand, not China

I would try to take it to the i-mobile shop. This is what I plan to do. I am sure if I could websurf in Thai that I could find the answer, but no luck so that is what I am going to do. I found many solutions online but none of them work for i-mobile. But I am sure it could be done

Some of the newer ones do OTA. I-mobile have no promise to upgrade to the next version of Android.
